History For over 50 years, the needs of the animal health industry have been serviced by Walco. Founded in 1954 as Wall's Livestock Supply, the initial business began as an offshoot of a family-owned drug store business which also supplied veterinary products to its customers. Over the years, Mr. Willard Wall had acquired ownership or controlling interests in various smaller distributors which were merged with the family business to form Walco in 1972. The family-owned Walco International, Inc. business was first sold in 1997. Walco eventually went public as Animal Health International, Inc., in 2007.
